名詞、代詞、短語或者句子
"either or"後面可以加名詞、代詞、短語或者句子。其基本結構是："either + 單數名詞/代詞/短語/句子 + or + 單數名詞/代詞/短語/句子"。例如：
"either tea or coffee"（茶或咖啡）
"either Mark or Dawn"（馬克或道恩）
"either study for the exam or go to the party"（要麼複習考試，要麼去參加派對）
"either he or you are right"（要麼他對，要麼你對）
需要注意的是，"either...or..."連接的兩個成分作主語時，謂語動詞通常與其靠近的主語保持一致。例如："Either you or I am to go."（你或我必須有人去）。但在非正式文體中，有時也會一律用複數謂語。例如："If either David or Janet come, they will want a drink."（大衛或珍妮特來的話,是會要喝酒的）。
此外，"either"後面接"or"，不能接"nor"或"and"，但"not...either..."後面則要用"nor"，不能用"or"，因爲"not...either"等於"neither"。
