Once upon a time, there was a man who lived alone in a small house in the woods. One night, he heard a knock on his door. He opened it to find a girl standing there, her face pale and her eyes wild. She said she was lost in the woods and asked for shelter for the night.
The man, afraid but also kind-hearted, welcomed her into his home. They shared a meal and some stories while the man's fire burned low. But as the night wore on, the girl grew increasingly restless and would not stop looking out the window.
The man eventually fell asleep, but he woke up in the middle of the night to find the girl standing over him, her eyes locked on his. She smiled a terrifying smile and said, "You're next."
The man woke up shaken but also with a sense of dread. He checked the house for any signs of the girl, but she had vanished without a trace. From that night on, he never again opened his door to strange visitors in the woods.
